National Medal for Phoenix Coach

Congratulations to club Coach Brian Peppard who led by example at the National masters indoor competition in Athlone last weekend. Brian produced an excellent performance to win a Bronze medal in the M50 high jump clearing all his jumps up to and including 1.40. Well done Brian.

A Large group travelled to Bundoran to compete in the Cara 10 mile challenge. All ran super times in windy conditions so well done to all. A large number took part in the St Patricks day 5k in aid of local charity Crocus and this event proved to be a very enjoyable event for a worthy cause, plenty of pics on our Facebook page.

The national juvenile indoor competition is underway and we had three competitors taking part at U18 level in Athlone on Sunday last. Sorcha O’Neill (400m) Oran O’Caolan (1500m) and Andrew McKenna (1500m.) All three ran new PBs in their respective events and this is another step forward for all with more valuable experience.

Eoin Sheridan and Tom Doherty both won their races in the small schools and large schools sections at the Monaghan County primary schools cross country held in Kilmore Scotstown. This is a terrific achievement for both these young athletes who continue to impress. Daisy Walker had a great run to finish in 4th in the girls race.

We wish our juveniles success as the National juvenile indoor competition continues. As a club we are very proud that our juveniles are progressing and we measure this with the fact that this year we have had national success at U23 and senior level with athletes who have been at the club from a young age. Well done to everyone who competed over a busy period.
