Monaghan Phoenix was well represented last weekend at the national indoor championships in Athlone.
On Saturday, Niall Leer ran in the u19 400m and was unlucky not to make the final by a single place, but was rewarded with a personal best time.
On Sunday Phoenix had 2 competitors taking part. Daisy Walker was first up and she ran a superb heat in the u17 200m to secure qualification for the final in a new PB of 26:08. Daisy went on the finish 4th in a very competitive final in another fantastic run.
In the u17 800m Ben Warnock ran a great heat to make the final as an automatic qualifier. In the final Ben had another superb run and was rewarded with a 4th place finish, and a 2 second indoor PB.
The future certainly looks bright for these young athletes.
